Election Results

In 2022 NJSA 19:63-22c was amended as follows: “Once election results are certified, reported results must indicate the number of votes cast in each district for each contest; except that, if the total number of votes cast and counted in any election district is fourteen or fewer, the returns for all such districts in the county shall be concealed to maintain voter privacy.”

Therefore, District Level Result Reports posted after the passing of law change, will have asterisks (*****) replacing the results in all districts in which the ballots cast do not meet the 14 votes cast minimum as including those votes would cause a voter’s right to a secret ballot to be compromised. Protected vote tallies for individual voting district(s) do not impact the reported contest totals and do not change results. All votes cast are reflected in the contest totals within the district level report and the election’s Summary Reports.
