6 services
  1. Document Directory & Recording Fees Attorneys and title staff can check what it costs to record a deed, mortgage, UCC, construction lien, or tax lien, and what a certified copy runs. The directory is grouped by document type so you can match the instrument before you write the check.
  2. Historical Documents (links to another page on this site) Search historical land records, maps, and municipal documents by town.
  3. Land Record Services If you are buying, selling, or refinancing, this explains how the Clerk records the related deeds and mortgages and how you can request a copy later. It is the service overview for Land Records, not the fee table—use the directory next door for dollar amounts.
  4. Payment Requirements Bring the right check: the Clerk will only take an attorney trust account, certified, or bank check for realty transfer fees, including the 1% buyer/grantee mansion fee. Personal checks and cash are not accepted for those amounts.
  5. Real Estate Closing Seminar Closing attorneys and title clerks can still download the handouts from the Clerk March 26, 2008 real-estate closing seminar. Treat them as background; confirm current fees and checklist items on the live recording-fee page before you settle.
  6. Residential Foreclosure Help & Information Homeowners facing a foreclosure notice can find counseling and refinance links, including New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency programs. The state Department of Banking and Insurance also keeps a toll-free hotline for seminar schedules; the Clerk records filings but does not stop a sheriff's sale.
