Naturalization records filed with the Bergen County Clerk can be searched through this office. Current naturalization certificates are issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, not the County Clerk.

Naturalization records can be obtained from the Office of the Clerk of Bergen County.

1. Complete the Naturalization Request Form (one form per search). Records are filed by the year of naturalization.
2. Include a $10.00 search fee by check or money order only, payable to “Bergen County Clerk’s Office.”
3. Mail the form and payment to:

Only the naturalized citizen or a family member (relative by birth) can receive a certified copy. Other requestors may receive a photocopy only. Include a copy of a valid photo ID (front and back) as explained on the form.

Copies from older naturalization books can be hard to read or copy because of age.

The County Clerk cannot replace a lost or stolen Naturalization Certificate. Use federal Form N-565 with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and follow their instructions.
