Apostille or State Seal
On occasion you may encounter a document that requires an Apostille, or State Seal, which attests to the legal status of the document and authenticates the signatures of notaries and some public officials, such as Judges, County Clerks, and the State Registrar of Vital Statistics. An Apostille can only be applied to a document by the New Jersey Department of Treasury. If you need an Apostille on a document that you have notarized, send the original document to the address below. Processing time is usually two to three weeks. The cost is $25.00 per certificate. If the documents are to be used for the purpose of adopting a child, the fee is $5.00 per certificate.
